Episode 10 Resources - Major and Minor

  • Writing Lesson Plan

    Writing Activity: Say Something Nice

In this activity, students explore how music can express feelings and how kind words can make others feel happy. They discuss emotions, listen to music, and think about what it means to say something kind. With teacher modelling and support, students say, draw, and write a simple sentence using a starter (e.g. “I can say ___”), sharing a kind message to brighten someone’s day.

  • Math Games

    Maths Activity: Kindness Number Stories

In this activity, students practise simple addition and subtraction using real-life kindness scenarios. They read short stories about giving compliments or kind words and calculate how many people heard them or how many compliments were given altogether, combining maths with social-emotional learning.

  • Reading Activities

Reading Activities: Emotions, Sequencing, and Music

Students build emotion vocabulary and reading skills by sorting feeling words, sequencing instructions to make a major/minor mask, and creating pages for a class big book exploring how music makes them feel.

Episode 10: Major and Minor

In this episode of Music with Michal, children explore major and minor keys and learn how music can make us feel different emotions. Through singing, listening, movement, and creativity, kids discover how happy, calm, and sad sounds can be expressed through music - and how our words and bodies can help support our feelings too.
