Up, Down, and All Around: Descriptive Writing
In this lesson, students use their imagination to write about things that move up and down. They say, draw, and write simple sentences using high-frequency words like up, down, I, and can. Students then share their fun “movement stories” with the class, building confidence in writing and oral expression. -

These activities build number knowledge by practising counting forwards and backwards. Students count along with xylophones to reinforce number sequences, then identify and fill in missing numbers, developing confidence with counting on and back. -

These activities support early reading skills through sequencing, word recognition, and rhythm. Students practise following instructions by ordering steps in a procedural text, sort and read “up” and “down” words to build understanding of meaning, and develop fluency by reading a shared poem with rhythm, repetition, and movement.
