Episode 6 Resources - Learn About Harmony

  • Writing Lesson Plan

    Colour Harmony: Writing to Describe
In this lesson, students use their imagination to write about colours. They practise oral language by describing a colour and why it’s special, then write a sentence expressing their ideas. The lesson also connects to visual art through colour mixing and feelings, and to music by exploring harmony - how different sounds or colours blend together.

  • Math Game

    Adding and Number Colouring
These lessons explore numbers through fun, creative activities. In Harmony, students practise adding two or more numbers together. In Colour by Numbers, they follow numerical clues to colour a summer scene, reinforcing number recognition and sequencing skills.

  • Reading activities

    Rhythm, Colour, and Creativity
These activities build reading fluency and vocabulary through rhythm, colour recognition, and creative writing. Students explore rounds with Row, Row Round, match English and Te Reo Māori words in Colour Match and create a collaborative class book celebrating how colours work together in Crayons Creating Harmony.

Episode 1: Heartbeats

In this episode, children explore the musical concept of keeping a steady beat, then build on this through creative writing, engaging reading activities, and a fun, independent maths game.
